- Bio
I've worked in government, commercial and not-for-profit agencies for over thirty years. My roles have included strategic, operational, HR, policy, general management and extensive programme/project management:
- 22 years as a serving police officer in NZ Police retiring at the rank of Superintendent in 1998.
- 20 years in various voluntary roles in the "not-for-profit" sector including Board Chair: Catholic Social Services, Wellington 1990-91.
- 3 years as a drug squad detective.
- 2 years developing NZ Police PCT (Physical Competence Test).
- 3 years on a Police organisational restructuring team.
- 4 years on a multi-agency Justice sector policy team.
- 5 years working in Police ICT:
- Manager Police Computer Services.
- INCIS Business Change Manager.
- INCIS Project Director.
- Consultant to State Services Commission (SSC) on e-government 1998/99.
- 8 years as the CEO of i-lign Limited. During that period i-lign has provided business consulting services, built numerous web-sites such as PCE, Catholic , Catholic Communications, and developed the i-lign business management software for project and case management.
The greatest blessing of my working career has been the fantastic teams I have worked with including Porirua CIB (1979-80); NZ Police Drug Squad (1981-84); NZ Police Human Resources (1985-91); The INCIS Project Team (1994-98); and the current i-lign Team (2006 onwards). Many of the people I've worked with have treated me with great generosity of spirit.
In 1991 I was awarded a NZ Harkness Fellowship and completed a mid career Master of Public Administration at Harvard's K-School. Previously I had completed a Bachelors degree in Education and Criminology, and a Master in Public Policy.
