Everyone who uses i-lign in your organisation is given automatic 'Guest' access to your project until you choose another role for them.

The Guest Role

How much access the 'Guest' role gives is up to you. It is also possible to rename the role and still retain it's 'Guest' status.

The default 'Guest' role, defined when i-lign is first implemented, gives simple read only access (list and view) to all of the project components. Access can be amended by adding or removing actions for the 'Guest' role in the Project Security Role table. If all actions are removed, a resource that has not been assigned another specific role in the project will be denied access to that project.

Note: Project security role default settings are defined at corporate level. Your organisation might have a best-practice guideline for changing security roles in projects.

To check what the 'Guest' role can see and do in your instance of i-lign:

  1. Go to Reference > Security in the project menu to view the Project Security Role table. One of the roles will have a tick in the 'Guest' column - this is the defined 'Guest' role. (Remember that the 'Guest' role can be renamed so the Role Name may not be 'Guest'.)
  2. Click the Role Name that is checked as 'guest'. The role's details will appear, listing all the actions that have been defined for it.

Remember! If changes are made to a project role, then the role has to be refreshed so that the new permissions are assigned to existing projects. A refresh button for each role is located to the right of the role name on in the Default Project Security Roles screen.
