i-lign: Engagei-lign: Engage

The Engage process is made up of two parts: Making the investment decision and then implementing the software. The key is making the right decision for your business.

Recap - Connect, Engage, Support

i-lign Connect, i-lign Engage and i-lign Support provide an end-to-end process from the time you first visit the i-lign website, through the initial purchase and then to the end of the implementation and deployment. The purpose of this is to provide you with an end-to-end "no-surprises" view of what it takes to implement i-lign, and to understand how we will support you at every phase.

Making the Investment Decision

Buying i-lign involves significant investment on your part. This breaks down into two elements: First, the price of the software and related implementation services. Second, the investment of time and effort you'll need to make to get maximum benefit out of the software. Both these elements must be part of your investment decision.

Implementing i-lign

i-lign is an integrated project, programme and portfolio management system and should be implemented with each of these elements in mind. Two things are critical. First, i-lign will only be as good as the people using it. Second, different people at various levels of your organisation will have different needs of the software.

Making the Investment Decision

Making the decision to buy i-lign involves two key steps. First, understanding the business drivers to support purchasing i-lign. Second, bringing together all the key people that need to be involved in the mechanics of the decision.

The Business Drivers

Your key business drivers will be:

  • You've identified critical business areas, such as project and resource management, where you need to do better.
  • You've tried to fix these problem areas in the past with limited success.
  • The time is right, in terms of senior management support and organisational culture, to do something about it.

Those involved in the Decision

Your key people who need to be involved in the final decision include:

  • The senior Business Sponsor - Focus on ROI
  • The CFO - Focus on Pricing
  • The Legal Advisor - Focus on Contracts
  • The Technical Team - Focus on Technology and Installation
  • The Change Team - Focus on Cultural Change
  • The Implementation Team - Focus on Configuration; Implementation; Training

Implementing i-lign

Many of the issues you'll need to face when implementing i-lign will have surfaced in the steps outlined above. As with all new initiatives, particularly software-based, there will be varying levels of support and resistance. The key is to continually reinforce that this initiative is what is best for the business; and that you are looking for consistency of work practice across the business. Be careful not to be distracted by noise that has little to do with the issues you face.
